The World of Texting

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “It’s a Text, Text, Text, Texting World.”

How do you communicate differently online than in person, if at all? How do you communicate emotion and intent in a purely written medium?

Within the past year, I have moved away from texting, toward actually calling people to speak with family and friends or leaving a voice message. It is unique as many respond to my voice message with a text message.

The speed and pace of the world is forever moving at an accelerated pace, yet when a text message is quicker than the slow pace of leaving a voice message or speaking directly to communicate the message.

Since retirement, I considerably slowed my pace of life, yet humanity is speeding texting ahead at a pace, either afraid of or know their expiration dates?

  1. People don’t talk to each other anymore — they text or email, and I find it sad.
