“Nightmares?”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Nightmares.”

Describe the last nightmare you remember having. What do you think it meant?

5-The-Matrix-quotes

I cannot recollect the last time I had a nightmare before or since I retired. There are instances in my waking life that seemed like nightmares I wanted to wake from.

My years as a parent of teenagers at times was like a nightmare. I know parents who still require therapy for several waking nightmarish traumatic events when their now adult children were teenagers.

I have friends who experienced real nightmares with the death of family, the infidelity of a loved one, and the diagnosis of an illness, all of which they wished was a nightmare.

At this time in my life, my nightmare would be awakening from a deep sleep to see myself at my work desk.

With that last thought, its time for something stronger than coffee.

  1. Funny. I haven’t worked in almost 9 years. I do keep busy but occasionally I get a little melancholy of not feeling useful to society. When I feel a little better I can work a few hours but I always reject the idea. Some of my medications stir nightmares for me. But it’s okay I like the bizarre dreams they get the creative juices flowing.
