“Toy Story”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Toy Story.”

What was your favorite plaything as a child? Do you see any connection between your life now, and your favorite childhood toy?

Long before famous automobile video games like Grand Theft Auto, Formula 1 Racing, and The Need for Speed, my memory easily recalls my days of Mattel’s Hot Wheel cars, with the accessories called the “Juice Machine,” and the “Power House,” pictured above, provided hours of fun for me and my brother.

The only connection, I have taken from this time of my youth is my love for cars, especially 60’s and 70’s muscle cars. My need for speed has been satisfied and I have matured to on travel above the posted speed limit only when I travel in the western portions of the US. In the wide open spaces of the Western US.

These straight stretches of open road beg for my foot to press the pedal to the metal and see how, fast a car can travel. Nowadays, I settle for watching the NASCAR races to get my dose for the need for speed like I did when I was just a little child.
