“Sunset Bicycle Ride, Dead Insects & Some Photos”

EOWilsonQuote

I was enjoying a beautiful warm summer evening viewing the sun settling in behind the trees when I found the urge to take an evening bicycle ride.

Normally I do not ride in the evenings due to a lot of insects occupying the bike trail. This tidbit of information did not register until a mile into my ride.

Luckily, I had my clear riding glasses to avoid the occasional bug in the eye accident. I figured I would ride through my neighborhood park and take photos of the sunset. I had my camera and monopod in my saddle bag so this evening bike ride was shaping up pretty good.

Although after, I stopped to take some photos, I realized my black Nike Dri-Fit t-shirt accumulated about fifty deceased insects.

I take several photos of the sun lowered into the horizon ending another Hump-Day, and I immediately hopped on my bicycle and pedaled for home.

I was prepared with a headlight, taillight, and two lights on my front and rear spokes. The ride home was uneventful except for the two or three hundred tiny insects impacting my face, arms legs, and chest.

So take solace in knowing the hundreds of insect sacrifices it took for these photos to appear above. Enjoy.
