“Sweeping Motions”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Sweeping Motions.”

What’s messier right now — your bedroom or you computer’s desktop (or your favorite device’s home screen)? Tell us how and why it got to that state.

My obsessive compulsion overwhelmed me to begin sweeping, mopping, and cleaning my entire home before leaving on vacation.

So, my desktop work area is clear of papers. Books are in alphabetical order, all bedding, towels, washed. Fresh, clean, crisp linens applied to the bed along with lavender scents used throughout the home.

I became aware my desire to maintain a clean kitchen, bathroom, and the home was a part of my upbringing as taught by my mother. I recognized my trait was apparent in my son as he cleaned a family members kitchen after we finished a meal.

The sweeping motions prompt is a part of my upbringing applied by my mother.

  2. You are so correct on the OCD….since I moved here with my family I have had to change my ways somewhat otherwise I would become a godzilla every moment of every day as they are “free spirits” which is a nice way to put it. Hahahahahaha If I had my own home and was in more control of my surroundings I would be back to my OCD ways. Everything in order and Everything in it’s place…wink wink

I’m right there with ya-my towels even need to be folded a certain way, with all corners nice and even. And my bedding can’t have any wrinkles. I suppose coming from a military family, that was bound to happen, right? 🙂 Sounds like you had a wonderful mom.

    1. Oh yes, mom taught me hospital corner before I entered the military. I still fold my clothing and linens. I’m glad it has rubbed off on my son. 🙂

  5. Just assumed that part of going on vacation was to scrub the house thoroughly before leaving!
