an age-old quest
from the day
we are born
crying out
turning our faces
like blossoms
to the sun
seeking love,
once found
we drink deeply
a life’s love
to sustain
again and again, until
like brittle fall leaves
in the umbrage of our life
we crumple
becoming dust in the wind
