On Interstate Ten, several miles west of Las Cruces, NM, I spent the night at the New Mexico rest stop and a scenic overlook with a sculpture designed in the image of a roadrunner.

The 20-foot sculpture represents the New Mexico state bird that was built and erected in 1993 by local artist Olin Calk who constructed the sculpture using recycled trash from the Las Cruces Recycling Center.

The most famous bird in the southwest, which has been featured in cartoons identifiable by its long tail and expressive chest. The Roadrunner walks and runs on the ground and flies when necessary.

The last image was taken from Rest Stop looking eastwards towards Interstate Ten leading into Las Cruces NM, after I spent the night anticipating the sunrise to provide the images to capture, after passing the rest stop many times over the years, to finally visit at my leisure.😊✌🏾
